Who Am I?

About Me

My name is Dr. Maruti Hanamant Devkar, an Assistant Professor of English at D. Y. Patil School of Engineering and Management (DYPSEM), Kolhapur, a constituent unit of D. Y. Patil Education Society (Deemed to be University), Kolhapur. I hold a Ph.D. in English from Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

I have 16 years of experience in teaching English Language, Professional Communication, Soft Skills, Value Education, and Communication Laboratories to engineering and management students. My academic interests include English Language Teaching (ELT), Professional Communication, Indian Writing in English, Contemporary English Literature, Value Education, and interdisciplinary studies integrating technology with language education.

I have published research papers in national and international journals and has actively participated in conferences, faculty development programmes, workshops, and academic seminars. My research focuses on contemporary English literature, communication skills, higher education, and innovative teaching-learning practices. One of my recent publications explores the transformation of twenty-first-century English literature in the context of globalization and digital technologies.

Apart from teaching and research, I actively contribute to academic administration and student development. I have coordinated faculty development programmes, language laboratory activities, debate competitions, social and rural internship programmes, admission outreach initiatives, and various institutional events. I am committed to promoting outcome-based education, experiential learning, and holistic student development.

I am also the author of the book “Strategic Communication for Engineers and Managers,” which focuses on developing professional communication competencies among engineering and management students.

My vision is to equip students with effective communication skills, ethical values, critical thinking abilities, and lifelong learning habits so that they become competent professionals and responsible global citizens.
